Lindey's Gets a Make-over for the Millennium
Lindey's American Bistro, located in German Village, has just completed a 7 month, $600,000 major renovation. With the assistance of Design Collective, Owner Sue Doody and sons Rick & Chris Doody, Lindey's has been completely upgraded with the goal of making this institution one of the best restaurants in the Midwest.
"Lindey's is one of the finest examples of a bistro in the Midwest. We wanted to upgrade everything without changing the bistro concept of Lindey's - Lindey's works very well. We just felt the need to freshen everything up in order to take it to the level of a nationally recognized restaurant." Sue Doody said.
Innate to a typical bistro, Lindey's has an exciting, high-energy atmosphere with a decor full of style and spirit all its own. Lindey's ambience was refreshed by recovering every wall, upstairs and downstairs, painting all trim, re-upholstering all of the chairs and adorning the walls with artists like painters Itzchak Tarkay, Joanna Zalinska and Issac Maimon. All three specialize in using bold and rich color of women in café scenes. Large, Victorian-style paintings of women, commissioned by local Ohio artist Tony Cochrane, hang in the front dining room. In keeping with the spirit of the bistro/café, where patrons visit any time depending on where they've been or where they're going, Lindey's has a "come as the spirit moves you" approach. Come after the theater, come after work, come after a day of shopping in the village, the attire ranges from blue jeans to tuxedos.
Of course Lindey's realizes that one cannot dine on decoration alone, that the cuisine must be as tasteful and unique as the ambience. Lindey's menu has been redesigned to deliver subtle variations of classic American dishes. One will be intrigued by the husband and wife team of Chef Matt Harding and Gretchen Eislet's flavorful and unique touches to classics like French Onion Soup, the Tournedos with Bernaise Sauce, Carpaccio and seasonal favorites like the cold Seafood Platter and hot Chicken Dumplings. Chef Matt Harding's creations provide Lindey's guests with a menu that appeals to even those with the most discerning tastes.
Voted on the Grumpy Gourmet's "Top Ten" 18 years in a row, Lindey's is pleased to have Michael Creedon, as the new General Manager, leading the way into the millennium. Mr. Creedon's restaurant experience is extensive and includes working with Lindey's sister company, BRAVO! Cucina Italiana. Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, Lindey's offers more than just great service, atmosphere, and food - Live jazz on Thursdays, Classical Guitar on Sunday evenings, Private Party Rooms for 10-150, complimentary valet parking, outdoor terraces and a knowledgeable service staff. Voted Columbus' "Best Sunday Brunch", Lindey's serves such specials like Eggs Lindey's and the wonderfully sinful Cream Cheese & Pecan Stuffed French Toast, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Lindey's, located at 169 E. Beck Street, in German Village, invites you to join us and see why "the quintessential bistro" will be around for another 18 years. |
